Brief History of our Vidyalaya


In 1985, the Government of India has decided to set up co-educational institutions known as Model Schools, one in each district, essentially to provide good quality modern education to the talented children predominantly from rural areas. Accordingly, two schools called as Navodaya Vidyalayas, one at Amravati (Maharastra) and another at Jajjar (Hariyana) were started in 1985-86 and presently more than 595 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are spread across the length and breadth of the country in all the States and Union Territories except Tamil Nadu. JNV, Banekuchi was established in 1994 in Mukalmua of Nalbari District in a temporary building and the vidyalaya was shifted to the present complex in Banekuchi in the year 2005.


  • Free good quality modern education to the rural talents.
  • Reservation of 75% of seats for rural and 25% for urban, out of which reservation for SC and ST in proportion to the population of the district subject to the national minimum. Reservation of 33% of the intake to girls.
  • Free boarding and lodging facilities including free text books, stationeries, uniforms, daily use items, bedding items, etc.
  • Teaching and learning through multimedia and ICT devices.
  • Strict implementation of three language formula. Learning through mother tongue up to Class VIII.
  • Special emphasis on Sports and Games, Art in Education CCA, Scouts and Guides, NGC, NSS, NCC etc.
  • Promoting National Integration through understanding the diversity and the cultural plurality of the country through the migration policy at Class IX.
  • Affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education.
  • Admission in Class VI through a specially designed culture free non verbal finaltest conducted by CBSE called as JNVST.

JNV North Tripura came into its existence on 13 Sep 2007 when it was inaugurated by Honorable D.C. Sh. M.L. Sharma and most respected MLA Dharmanagar Smt. Bijyota Nath and in presence of following staff members Sh. Rakesh Tripathi V.P., Sh. Azad Ali Mandal, T.G.T S.ST, J.S. Meena, TGT Hindi, Sh. Aftab Uddin, TGT English, Smt. Kamolika Ghosh, TGT Bengali, Sh. P.K. Mishra (Music teacher) and Smt. M. Basumatary (PET Female) and other contractual staff.
It was the temporary site with very small setup along with 40 young student of class VI. Though it was small setup and small school but we never thing small and never had small hearts too. We had also faced many problems as the required infrastructure was not sufficient but we didn’t get dis-hearted, and each day we move towards our goal. The goal to achieve excellence. We never turned back , and with high spirit we got our academic achievement when our two students in session 2012-2013 got 10 CGPA in class Xth. And in session 2013-2014 four more student got 10 CGPA.

In April 2014 our school shifted to the permanent site with new hopes and enthusiasm and in the same session i.e. 2014-2015 the two student again makeup 10 CGPA in class 10th.
In the year 2016 the long awaiting of school ends when Sh. R.P. Meena joined JNV North Tripura as full flagged Principal. Under his guidance and supervision we broke the new records & in the session 2016-2017 there is 100% result of class X and three students from the same class got 10 CGPA. And one student from class X is selected for Medical coaching of two year, free of cost in Dakshana Valley Pune. And in the same session pass percentage of class XII is 95%.
Other than this two students of class XI named Bhaswati Das, Sanglap sarkar and Mainak Pal got selected in NERIST entrance test. We had also made our place in Maths Opympiad with two students named Manjeet and Bishwadeep Das being selected for regional.
Beside the academic achievement, much progress has been made in infrastructure also in the session 2016-2017 which are as follows:

  • With the assistance of forest department, plantation of saplings being done in campus and more than 250 saplings were planted in the campus.
  • Establishment of school garden in academic block named Rajiv Smirti Van, by the sincere efforts of Staff and Students.
  • Laid the foundation of Parents waiting shed in the campus by the help from District Administration .
  • Installation of Samsung Smart Class for students provided by Samsung under CSR.
  • Under ICT head, establishment of project room for better teaching and learning experience.
  • Installation of V-SAT to equipped the campus with high speed internet facility.
  • For better safety and security vigilance, installation of CCTV done at various spots inside the campus including senior classes.
  • With the sincere effort of Sh. R.P. Meena Principal JNV North Tripura, rain water harvesting system is included in phase-B construction of the Vidyalaya.
  • Water problem had also reduced to a extent as we are procuring about 10 – 15 thousands of liters of water from nearby deep bore well located in Kherengjuri Village. With this our expenditure on water has cut off nearly to half, which were about one lakh rupees per month earlier.
  • In this session (2017 – 2018) 80 students were admitted in class VI of our Vidyalaya.
